Strategic Information Planning (SIP)

The basis for targeted IT development

The following corporate principle was formulated as early as the formation of ITMC AG in 1991:

ITMC AG will assist its clients in devising information strategies that focus uncompromisingly on corporate goals.

On the basis of recognised theoretical principles, this positioning has led to development of I2Cmethod ®, a practical oriented procedural methodology, that supports the integration of all stakeholders into an information strategy project at the appropriate level. The modular structure of the methodology and defined milestones result in:

  • the creation of traceable interim results.
  • optimum utilisation of team members' knowledge.
  • planning results being transferred seamlessly into on-going planning.

Strategic considerations are based on situation assessment, prediction of future changes in internal, external and technological environments as well as information goals and requirements. Concise core statements are devised on the basis of this information for consideration over a period of 3-5 years.

Information strategy serves as a basis for formulating architectures. The architecture marks out the conceptual space for practical implementation and project work.

Relevant intentions are derived from deviation analysis of the desired and actual situations, with the intention of arriving at concept targets. These intentions are represented in the form of an intention portfolio, prioritised and fixed in a medium-term plan, thus setting the framework for practical implementation.
